Project Background:

The objective of the Syria Essential Services (SES) project is to support the restoration of essential services and provide relief in communities in opposition influenced areas in Syria, including efforts to support the ability of communities to organize, administer, maintain, and expand such services. The project collected data on each activity completed to consider the impact of the activities on local councils’ community engagement, credibility and legitimacy, administrative capacity, and the degree to which the intervention either created or resolved conflicts or inequities within the community or among community leaders. The reports produced for each activity address these four areas and offer lessons learned and recommendations.
